Rapid City Styling, LLC was founded in 2023 by Trevor Paffe, but Trevor's detailing career goes back to 2014, when he started at a Honda dealership and completed the AWC (Auto Magic) Certified Reconditioning Process — a training program built on reconditioning standards adopted by Ford, Toyota, and Isuzu into their own dealership certification programs, delivered through an ASE Accredited Training Provider and sponsored by Great Lakes Chemical. Auto Magic is an ITW (Illinois Tool Works) company, a Fortune 250 manufacturer. From there, he spent years at a chrome shop specializing in heavy aluminum and stainless polishing, doing extensive paint correction and detailing on over-the-road semi trucks, show trucks, and — long before Rapid City Styling ever offered marine services — RVs and boats.
Along the way, Trevor added marine-specific training through Great Lakes Chemical and Technician's Choice (an ECP brand) dealer curriculum, rounding out hands-on polishing experience with formal marine detailing technique.
What kept pulling Trevor toward this work wasn't just the craft — it was getting closer to the final customer. Whether it was a trucker's pride and joy, someone's weekend toy, or a daily driver, there was something different about seeing the enjoyment people got out of the thing he'd just spent hours on. That's the reason Rapid City Styling exists: not just to clean and protect vehicles, but to build real relationships with the people who own them — noticing the details they might miss, and being straight with them about what their vehicle needs (and doesn't).
Today, Rapid City Styling serves Grand Rapids and the surrounding West Michigan communities — Comstock Park, Rockford, Ada, Cascade, Forest Hills, Walker, Sparta, and Cedar Springs among them — by appointment at our Comstock Park shop, with mobile service available for boats and marina detailing.
We're not a car wash chain, and we're not just a guy with a bucket. Trevor started in detailing in 2014 at a Honda dealership, where he completed the AWC (Auto Magic) Certified Reconditioning Process — a training program, delivered through an ASE Accredited Training Provider and sponsored by Great Lakes Chemical, built on reconditioning standards that Ford, Toyota, and Isuzu have adopted into their own dealership certification programs. From there he spent years at a chrome shop doing heavy aluminum and stainless polishing and extensive paint correction on over-the-road semis, show trucks, RVs, and boats. That range — from dealership-grade standards to show-truck-level polish work — is what Rapid City Styling brings to every job.
More than the technical skill, though, is the approach: we build real relationships with our customers, not just transactions. We'll tell you what your vehicle actually needs — and just as importantly, what it doesn't — rather than selling you the biggest package we can. Every ceramic coating also includes complimentary quarterly maintenance washes for the life of the coating, so we stay involved long after the first appointment.
